UV Light Air Purification Systems

Second Wind UV 2000 series air purifier can disinfect 53% of Coronavirus based on a single pass of air through the ductwork.  Second Wind conducted an independent study with University of Waterloo, Government of Canada and NSERC (Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada). Click here to view the independent study & the impact on Coronavirus (see page 3 of report regarding Coronavirus findings).

Second wind air purifiers use ultraviolet germicidal light and a patented photo-catalytic process to disinfect mold, bacteria, infectious disease and decrease volatile organic compounds in your indoor environment.

HEPA Air Purification Systems

The high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) system is designed to filter air without restricting air flow. The benefits of HEPA system:

  • Removes particles as small as .3 microns
  • Removes 99% of particles creating a much healthier air quality
  • Easily integrates into existing HVAC systems
  • Prevents particles from bypassing the furnace filter
  • Furnace filter is still recommended with the installation of a HEPA system

Humidifiers

Humidifiers help place moisture back into your homes’ air, especially during those dry winter months. Benefits for installing a humidifier:

  • Helps prevent the spread of viruses, reduces dry throats and noses
  • Prevents static shock and gaps in wood finish
  • Only used during the fall and winter months
  • Operates when furnace heat function is running and humidistat percentage is not met

HRV (Heat Recovery Ventilation)

The heat recovery ventilation is an air exchanger; removing air from the home and replacing it with fresh outdoor air. The unit recovers heat by transferring heat from outgoing air to incoming air. The benefits of an HRV:

  • Reduces high humidity levels in the home, best used during winter months to reduce condensation on windows
  • Reduce indoor pollutants and odours
  • Heat transferred to incoming air from outgoing air, thus reducing the cost to heat the outside air coming in

Furnace 5” Filter

New and older HVAC systems are typically built with the standard 1” furnace filter rack. Simply increasing the filter width size to 5” can increase its air filtration effectiveness.

  • Replace filters every 6 to 9 months versus 2 to 3 months for 1” filters
  • Captures particles 1 micron and larger
  • Provides higher efficiency as it restricts less airflow than 1’ filters
  • Use high Merv rated filter without system operation issues
